Pierrel, a respected alpinist and IFMGA mountain guide, died at the age of 42 while attempting a challenging climb-and-ski expedition in Pakistan.
During the expedition in the Karakoram region, Pierrel was caught in an avalanche while climbing at high altitude. Despite the efforts of his teammates, the accident claimed the life of one of the world’s most accomplished ski mountaineers.
